Compare Disposable Shoe Covers With an Automated Shoe-Sole Sanitizing Station

Disposable shoe covers and UVZone® handle footwear differently.

Shoe covers place a temporary barrier over the footwear. Every use requires an available cover, correct sizing, proper application, removal, handling, and disposal.

UVZone® treats both shoe soles directly during an automatic 6, 8, or 10-second UV-C and ozone cycle. The station remains at the selected entry and does not require personnel to retrieve, apply, remove, or discard a cover during each use.

Your facility determines where shoe covers, garbing, and other PPE remain required. We help your team evaluate the entries where UVZone® may simplify the footwear sanitation process or reduce routine dependence on disposable covers.

A disposable cover process depends on supplies and correct employee behavior every time someone enters.

Your facility must keep the correct sizes available, restock each participating doorway, provide space for donning and removal, manage clean and used covers, and dispose of the resulting waste.

The operating workload increases as the number of personnel, shifts, and controlled entries grows.

UVZone® shoe sanitizing station

A Fixed Station With One Timed Step at the Door

UVZone® remains at the selected entry and treats both shoe soles directly.

The user steps onto the station, remains in place for the selected 6, 8, or 10-second cycle, and continues after the visual and audible completion signal.

The automatic process does not require recurring cover inventory, sizing, donning, removal, or disposal at the station.

UVZone® requires:

  • 24 × 24 inches of floor space
  • A 120-240VAC electrical outlet
  • A selected 6, 8, or 10-second cycle
  • Clear placement within the walking path
  • Planned lamp inspection and maintenance
  • User completion of the timed cycle
  • Facility procedures identifying where the station is required

The Difference Is the Work Required at Every Entry

Disposable covers create a repeated supply and handling process. Every entry cycle depends on having the correct cover available and on the user applying and removing it correctly.

UVZone® creates a fixed sanitation point. Once the station is placed and the cycle is established, each user completes the same automatic shoe-sole treatment before continuing through the doorway.

For facilities managing multiple entries, shifts, or high personnel volume, that difference can significantly change the amount of inventory, restocking, handling, and waste associated with the footwear protocol.

How UVZone® works at your facility

Our footwear sanitizing station is designed for normal facility entry. UVZone® activates automatically and provides visual and audible indicators during the treatment cycle.

  1. 01

    Step onto UVZone®

    Position both feet on the designated treatment areas. The automatic weight sensor starts the selected cycle.

  2. 02

    Remain in place for 6 to 10 seconds

    UV-C light and ozone operate together to treat both shoe soles during the 6, 8, or 10 second cycle selected for the entry.

  3. 03

    Continue into the controlled area

    A visual indicator and audible signal tell the user when the cycle is complete and they can continue through the entry.

The dry cycle runs without a liquid reservoir at the station or a disposable cover to remove after the UVZone® step.
